Helmut Strebl is a 45 year old fitness model who is singlehandedly redefining the meaning of the word shredded. When he was 12 years old, he was a skinny kid, and he started lifting in order to protect himself. Then it became a lifelong pursuit. His first set of weights were two bottles of washing detergent, but at 16 years old he joined a gym and started putting in the real world that would have him taking the internet by storm decades later. This guy is no joke.
What motives him to push his body to such an extreme?
“What truly motivates me is my mission to serve as a graphic example of achieving ideals.” – Helmut Strebl
He’s certainly done that. In an interview with Simply Shredded, Helmut reveals that his training routine is fairly simple. He listens to his body, he doesn’t try to push through pain, and he stays consistent.
“My routine is far from being over-programmed. Every five or six days, I train each of my major muscle groups.”
He has a weekly calendar setup, with rest days on Saturday, but it’s more of a guideline – his consistency lays in always listening to what his body is telling him, rather than sticking to a plan when his body says to cool it, and this helps prevent injury so that he can stay healthy to lift another day. It’s a zen way of doing things, putting ego and numbers aside.
Make sure you show him some love on Instagram.
