You might find it confusing when you check out the ingredients on the label of any Low T supplement, as they are often stacked with a variety of different compounds and herbal extracts with scientific names that are difficult to pronounce. Some have been formulated into standardized and patented ingredients known to boost testosterone, among other benefits. One of these is Testofen, produced by Gencor, who manufacture herbal ingredients.
Many supplements on the market contain Testofen, which is a standardized Fenugreek extract used for boosting testosterone, enhancing the libido and increasing muscle mass. This supplement is also good for overall health and has been put through clinical studies, so let’s take a closer look to see what it could do for you.
Pros
- Boosts testosterone and overall health
- Clinically tested
- Can increase free testosterone
- May enhance sexual performance
- Can help with fat loss
Cons
- Does have some side effects
- Might trigger allergies for some users
- Increases blood pressure
- Overdose can be a problem
Benefits
Testofen is added to many different supplements that might also contain variations, so you might want to try this product on its own before committing to a full-blown regime. Along with boosting testosterone and overall health, this supplement may:
Help increase muscle growth
Stimulate the libido
Treat digestive disorders
Increase immunity
Enhance performance
Increase strength and energy levels
Encourage healthy bones
Reduce depression
Side Effects
Even though studies have shown that there are no severe side effects while using Testofen, there are some concerns, especially if taken in large amounts. Something to take into consideration is that overly increased testosterone levels can cause an imbalance in other hormones like estrogen, which can result in the growth of breast tissue and lower sperm production. Other side effects may include:
Increased blood pressure which could lead to heart attack
Gastrointestinal issues, bloating, gas and diarrhea
Nasal congestion and other allergic reactions like coughing and facial swelling
Possible lowering of blood sugar
Acne
Suppressed appetite
Overblown libido
Excessive urination
Enlarged prostate
Baldness in men or excessive hair growth in women
Liver damage
Of course, you should check with your doctor before taking anything new into your system and it should be noted that you must not take Testofen if you are pregnant, nursing or have diabetes. Remember to take this with plenty of water as it can also cause dehydration, which can affect the kidneys.
Does it Work? Clinical Research:
Here is some information about research studies, taken from Testofen’s website:
“Both animal and human clinical studies have been conducted on Testofen®.
Animal study
Study results: The 2010 study of Testofen on the reproductive systems of rats demonstrated that Testofen supported an increase in the weight of the ani-levator muscle, which led to support for muscle mass and body weight.*

Human study on adult male sexual desire
Study result: A six-week double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study was conducted in Australia in 2009 on 60 healthy adult males. A formulation containing Testofen as a major ingredient showed a statistically significant increase in the sexual function, performance and satisfaction of the active group.* Study used the DISF-SR index. In addition, the study also found self-reported satisfaction in quality of life measures such as perceived muscle strength, energy levels, and well-being, although these were not analyzed for significance.*

Ingredients
Testofen Fenugreek seed extract 300 mg
Testofen contains 50% Fenugreek along with over 100 phytochemical constituents, which includes Furostanol Saponins and Steroidal Saponins. Their unique Fenugreek extract is standardized to a proprietary blend of saponin glycosides, which support healthy sexual desire and helps to reduce the symptoms caused by Andropause in men.
These extra ingredients are said to provide a powerhouse of benefits to support natural Fenugreek in its purest form. Other ingredients include vegetable capsules.
Recommended Dosage
The dosage depends on your needs, but you should consult with your doctor first. Taking between 300 mg to 600 mg per day should suffice for boosting testosterone levels but make sure you take it with plenty of water.
Testofen is a patented supplement often used in testosterone boosting products, but there are a lot of opinions out there regarding how effective Fenugreek is. While there are many positive reviews there are just as many negative ones or users who state they found no benefits at all. Overdose is the real issue here, but if the side effects don’t scare you off, try it out for yourself.
