Gunnar Anderson is known as the “One Pec Wonder”, and you can probabally guess why…
If you guessed anything other than the fact that he was born with one pec, you’re wrong.
Gunnar was born without his right pectoral muscle, so he decided to make up for it by making sure he pushed the limits with every other muscle.
Some people would say “Meh, I guess a sport based on muscles and perfect symmetry just isn’t for me…” but that’s too much of an excuse to ever enter The One Pec Wonder’s vocabulary.
Unlike most kids that get into lifting, there aren’t a lot of role models for Gunnar to look up to that share his unique physique. If you’re an immigrant, you can look up to Arnold. If you’re short, you can look up to (no pun intended) Lee Priest, if you’re in a wheelchair there are many inspirational people, but missing a pec? Not so much. Gunnar is blazing trails, and working hard to make sure that future generations are able to use him as a role model and somebody to look up to.
Gunnar has already started inspiring other lifters, a reddit user named church__ who saw Gunnar’s picture commented:
“i also have one pec as a result of Poland syndrome, which is what i suspect he has. Thank you SO much for posting this, this guy is my new favorite lifter. VERY inspiring to me to see somebody make it so far with what i assume to be the same birth defect as me.”
