The clock is ticking as we get nearer and nearer to Mr. Olympia 2016. This year’s dark horse might be Kevin Levrone, as everybody eagerly waits to see how he looks in his comeback to the big stage. The 48 year old last took the Olympia stage in 2003, where he earned a 6th place finish.
He has placed 2nd four different times, and has many 3rd, 4th and 5th place finishes to top it off. Those 2nd place finishes can be haunting, so he probvabally wants to prove something to himself once and for all, but Mr. Levrone certainly doesn’t have anything left to prove to the fans, who are just excited to see him back again and to have another chance to witness a legend in action.
Here’s an 8-weeks-out video from Muscular Development showing Kevin’s back workout in preparation for the show.
He’s fired up and motivated, but will he be able to join the elite of the sport after more than a decade on the sidelines? It’s not like he was sitting around eating Cheetos for the past 13 years, so this could get interesting.
Here’s some more recent footage showing him in the gym about 6 weeks out from Mr. Olympia 2016. It’s crunch time now. Everybody’s racing to inch closer and closer to perfection in hopes that they’ll be the ones holding the Sandow at the end of the night. The prize money probabally doesn’t hurt either, but that gets spent eventually – the pride that comes from winning it all and being the best in the world lasts a lifetime.
Kevin Levrone has a special message for anyone who says he can’t do it: silence.
But it’s always got love for the fans, and there are a lot of them. Everybody loves the underdog/comeback story, and how interesting would it be that it took a visit into the archives of bodybuilding past in order to finally dethrone Phil Heath?
By the way, did you hear about Phil Heath collapsing on stage? He’s all good now, of course.
