You may have seen him already, they’re calling him “Phil Heath’s Twin” even thought they don’t even look that similar… Maybe brothers, if anything. Cousins. Distant cousins. Whatever, that’s not the point.
That’s not what makes this story stand out. Meet Donte Franklin.
What really makes you raise an eyebrow at this one isn’t a slight passing resemblance between two bodybuilders, because if you pack enough muscle on anybody they’ll start to at least look kind of similar to each other.
Now, this guy isn’t competing at Mr. Olympia, obviously.. he’s a bit smaller than Phil, he’s still got some work to do, but he says he’s achieved this physique all naturally, doesn’t take anything at all – not even protein shakes or creatine… Keep reading:
We’re not the natty police, we’re not the natty jury, we’re not the natty judge, and we’re not the natty executioner… we’ll leave that up to the people in the comments, because they’ll do those jobs either way, for free.
It’s obvious that Donte has put in more hard work than most people on the planet are capable of doing, so don’t take anything away from it. Let’s say… hypothetically… that he’s not so natty afterall, why do people even try to pretend? It’s dangerous to people who are just starting to lift and don’t know any better yet. They’ll think all you need to achieve an Olympia-level physique is hard work and protein, and that sets a dangerous standard. If we’re going to criticize women’s magazines that use photoshop for creating impossible body goals for young girls, why don’t we hold “natural bodybuilders” to the same standards?
Again, we’re not taking anything away from the hard work this guy has put it, it’s really impressive, he’s a beast. But can we find 3 people on the entire internet that believe the natty claims? Show yourselves.
There’s a lot of guys on roids out there who look like shit, so it’s not like it’s some magic potion that automatically transforms you into a beast, and it doesn’t take away from your accomplishments, but how are we ever going to clear the air and break away some of the stigmas of bodybuilding if people aren’t being transparent?
