There’s been a lot of back and forth about whether or not Kai Greene would compete this year. On the one hand, he’s the guy who is going to give Phil Heath the biggest run for his money, and their rivalry from a few years ago got the event the most attention it has had in years. If you want to introduce the sport of bodybuilding to a wider audience, the way to do that is by putting Kai and Phil up on that stage next to eachother.
The event itself was trying to bait Kai into registering originally, by setting up a countdown on their Instagram account to troll him into competing – but Kai has flat out said he’s not going to be there. None the less, there’s one piece of evidence that seems to suggest otherwise.
Not only has Kai qualified to compete at Mr. Olympia 2016, but he’s actually listed on their website. That’s the smoking gun in this whole thing:
People don’t tend to be listed on websites for events that they don’t plan on competing in, right?
But, this could just be another example of the competition itself trying to bait Kai into showing up. Kai has been tearing it up at Arnold’s events this year, but doesn’t seem interested in Mr. O, although who knows – maybe we’re all getting trolled.
So far, the big story leading up to this year’s Mr. Olympia is Kevin Levrone’s comeback or how massive Big Ramy is looking – but who out there can pretend they don’t want to see Kai Greene make a comeback, too? He’s the top threat to Phil, no question.
Wearing a hoodie leading up to a big competition? Illuminati confirmed?
Shoes… to walk into the building to participate in Mr. Olympia?
Alright, that’s grasping at straws, but the fact that Kai has qualified and his name is on the Mr. Olympia 2016 website is a pretty strong signal that he’ll be making an appearance afterall, isn’t it?
