Tim Tebow will be making the rounds, working out with various MLB teams to try to secure himself a spot in the league.
The NFL free agent is taking that freedom to the next level, with his NFL career over he’s found himself a new three-letter league to take a swing at. He’s taking it seriously, too, and some big names have come out in support of Tebow’s baseball abilities. He sounds like he’s not QUITE there yet, but with a little more work he could be well on his way.
Tebow is 29 years old, and was drafted by the Broncos in the first round in 2010. He hasn’t played a single game in the NFL since 2012, so he’s probabally starting to get a bit restless. In his short career, his record as a starter is 8-6, he’s thrown 9 interceptions, and completed just shy of 50% of his passes. Tebow has scored 17 touchdowns, but let’s see how well that translates into home runs.
Tim’s going to be showcasing his skills for MLB teams on August 30th, but some people have already gotten a sneak peek. 20 different teams have already decided to attend the showcase, so there’s definitely interest here, but how much of that is based on the publicity remains to be seen.
Former Yankee Chad Moeller has been training with Tebow, and said that he thinks he’ll eventually end up on the roster of a major league team, even if it’s all a bit of a sideshow to start out.
Hall of Famer Frank Thomas took a look at Tebow’s swing, and he’s impressed! Here’s what he had to say:
Only a handful of people noticed this comment, it went completely under the radar, but this is a huge endorsement from The Big Hurt himself. The guy knows a thing or two about swinging a bat.
