One of the biggest stories leading up to Mr. Olympia this year is the return of Kevin Levrone.
The Maryland Muscle Machine has a lot of supporters, and a lot of doubters. It’s going to be the biggest challenge of his career – but that’s no reason to write him off. Even without Kai Greene hitting the stage, this could be a really tough year for Phil Heath.
Big Ramy is looking absolutely massive leading up to this year’s show, there’s a motivated Levrone looking to shock the world, and a handful of dark horses who could cause an upset.
He’s doing a couple hours of cardio every day, eating a meal every two and a half hours, lifting hard for 90 minutes, then hitting the weights for another couple hours.
Anyone who sees the athletes at this level and just writes it off as roids obviously doesn’t understand the amount of hard work that it takes.
Nobody in their right mind thinks these guys are natty, obviously, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t in there busting their asses on a regular basis.
If you want to reach the highest level, worldwide, for anything… you’re going to have to put in work, no matter how many Mexican supplements are flooding your bloodstream…
Kevin Levrone took a minute out from his super busy day to go over what his routine looks like, and to give you a look inside the mind of a man who is deep into training for the most difficult challenge of his professional life.
Regardless of how he places, you’ve got to give the man a ton of respect. Being away from the sport, it was probabally something he thought about all the time, wanting to get back on stage just one more time, just to see what happens if he gives it his all one last time. When you’re so close to being the very best in the entire world, how do you not keep pushing yourself? How would you ever give up the thrill of competing on the world’s most competitive stage at the biggest show?
