Leave it to bureaucrats to mess something up and to do the exact opposite of what they’re actually trying to do. You want to keep kids safe, so you’re enrolling them in CrossFit? That’s like dumping water on a table in order to keep it dry. That’s like ego lifting when there’s nobody else in the room. That’s like taking less than 3 scoops of preworkout. It just doesn’t make sense, and it’s counterproductive, and just dumb.
Schools in Las Vegas are adding CrossFit to their gym class curriculum. Just in case you needed to see those words again to actually believe tht they’re true. To be totally honest, we’re kind of conflicted on this one, because on the one hand it’s CrossFit and children and that just sounds like an even more dangerous combination than regular CrossFit, but on the other hand…in a world that’s practically covered with bubble wrap and participation trophies and a generation of kids who are growing up soft, they could probabally use a little more danger in their lives!
That’s what makes this move so perplexing. We’ve all seen the dangers of CrossFit and the frequently, terrible injuries that can occur. So, how are they saying that they’re starting up CrossFit in order to keep kids safe? Safer than what? Safer than Dodgeball? Safer than pushups and jumping jacks? Safer than running a few laps? Not likely…
This also raises some moral issues. These kids are too young to understand the risks, their little bones and joints are still developing, isn’t it just too early to obliterate them?
Youtuber Elgintensity, who hosts the channel Exercises in Futility, absolutly hates CrossFit. No matter how much you think that you hate CrossFit, it pales in comparison to this guy. He put together a video going off on the schools that are starting to teach CrossFit classes to kids, check it out:
Can anybody tell if Elgintensity likes CrossFit or not?
What do you think about this? What would you do if they wanted to make CrossFit mandatory in your kid’s school? Would you march down to the principal’s office, turn sideways to fit through the door, and give them a piece of your mind?
