We’ve all seen the incredible transformation pictures that get shared all the time, showing these small, skinny guys gradually transforming into total beasts. That’s great, and it’s always inspirational and motivating for people to see, but that only tells half the store…
There’s also de-transformations.
If you want to get big, you’ve got to eat right and train like a monster. But these gains aren’t loyal, so if you don’t stick to whatever routine has been working, you’ll start to quickly lose all of the muscle you’ve gained. Don’t take our word for it, just ask these professionals.
Sometimes, they decide to give up the sport and move on to something else, other times it’s due to an injury or unforeseen circumstances. Whatever the cause is, let’s give a saddened RIP for all of these gains that have passed away.
Flex Wheeler
Flex is a total inspiration. He’s been through it all, and even after losing his gains after an injury, he pushed to get ’em back. Some people would give up, but not Flex, cos he’s FLEX WHEELER.
Flex is one of the legends of the sport, but when he underwent a series of surgeries and a kidney transplant at the age of 37, his gainz said “SEE YA!”
After all that, Flex brought back the muscle and started looking beastly again, however as of January, he had spent some time in the hospital with more health issues. We’re wishing Flex nothing but the best.
Victor Martinez
This time it wasn’t an injury or health issues that took the gains, but some time in the slammer.
Usually, when guys get locked up, they come out looking jacked but in Victor’s case he wouldn’t have access to… the same nutrition … that he had on the outside, so it’s no wonder them muscles started to fade.
But don’t worry, there’s a happy ending, he got ’em all back and then some.
Mustafa Mohammad
He was up there competing with guys like Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, and more.
Mustafa had an incredible physique, but he was often overshadowed by the absolute legends of his era.
Health concerns had him cut his professional bodybuilding career short, and he went from being in the top 0.0001% of people to being an ordinary dude who is in great shape for his age. There’s no shame in that.
Shout out to Mustafa, he doesn’t get enough recognition for his achievements.
Tom Prince
Tom Prince was a total beast in his day, just look at him! You’ve got to have a certain amount of respect for the guys who can look at their career and earnestly say “I flew pretty damn close to the sun, but it’s time to descent back to humanity.”
Being a professional bodybuilder then going back to “civilian” life is a lot like any other pro athlete that retires, except they typically aren’t set for life financially, and could be battling any number of health issues brought on by their former careers.
Paul Dillet
Paul Dillet is a Canadian IFBB pro who was absolutely massive during his prime. As far as pure, raw, genetic dominance goes – he’s one of the best there’s ever been.
These days, he’s managing his business up in Canada and doing his thing.
Thumbs up!
