Rich Piana, an internet famous American bodybuilder and fitness entrepreneur who won the Mr. California title along with competitions in Los Angeles in 2003 and Sacramento in 2009, recently died at the age of 46.
In the wake of his death, many rumors and allegations have swirled amongst the bodybuilding community. One stranger than fiction anecdote comes from the late Mr. Piana’s girlfriend, who told Police “He would snort this powder” that she believed was lemon lime CON-CRET PRE workout powder, as reported by TMZ
This isn’t the first time Rich has reportedly snorted caffeine laden pre-workout, he’s even appeared on video doing it.
It appears it was a humorous gag in attempt to gain internet attention, and he didn’t actually believe it to be a superior delivery method for such powders. Normal intake of No2X Supplements and other supplements in either Capsule form or Powder was how he usually took his supplements.
This doesn’t explain why his girlfriend reported he was doing it at home, very strange indeed.
Surely the fillers and other ingredients would be very irritating to delicate mucus membranes.
We don’t know how much this contributed to his death, his autopsy report was inconclusive but did show evidence of severe heart disease.
